Why it’s not true: I charge what I believe the client values. I am not trying to steal money from those who need it most. I only charge what I feel is fair to the both of us. Each and every product and service I provide for my clients are always things I am very proud of and something I would create for myself. I provide a TON of value for each and every person I decide to work with. I am passionate about what I do as well as what I specialize in. I am just not used to asking for the money myself. The services I provide are of extremely high value.
I need to make a living and if I continue to undercharge I will not be able to sustain a living for much longer. I NEED TO CHARGE HIGHER, I AM AT RISK OF LOSING EVERYTHING
Charging higher will start to weed out people who don’t take my offering seriously. Serious/Dedicated Customers = Ideal Clients
If I continue to charge low people will think I am a fraud and that I have low quality of work.
Why it’s not true: Just because this is one of my first businesses that doesn’t mean I know nothing. I have come from a profession that I worked exclusively with high net-worth companies. I can utilize what I did for them and turn it into things I can do for myself and for others.
So what if it is difficult, things take time and people need to trust me. I need to get more clients and build more rapport with those who already know me.
I can read more books and talk to other people who are in the same business as I am.
I know it can work because a lot of people already ask me to help them out with their business but the problem is they don’t want to pay. (I just need to ask them how much do they think their business is worth and why they think they need my services at all. Because if they want it for free then it must mean it isn’t worth much at to them and that they can’t get any value from it. The amount of money and effort you put in correlates to how much value it has.)
Why it’s not true: I just haven’t collected it. From now on I need to pair all my websites with analytics.
Ask for testimonials and reviews.
The results I have for myself can be used as a metric.
Why it’s not true: YOU WON’T KNOW IF YOU DON’T TRY
You have to start somewhere.
Remember that it is only a game, if you get 0 the 1st time, make the 2nd video try to find a new way of doing it, then make the 3rd one differently if it still doesn’t work. NO MATTER WHAT DON’T STOP You can’t back out, this is your life. You can’t just stop living because it is hard. You have too much to offer the world and the future.
When you start out, you can totally have a loyal and dedicated following group. Pay attention to the small number of people you have now. See if you can help them all. DM all of them and produce something. You might get 25 out of 125 followers who want your help. Maybe then 1 of them might say they want to pay. Just try what you can.
Why it’s not true: Even if you haven’t built the infrastructure for it yet, you can always look for alternatives and even come up with other solutions to work in the meantime.
You have to diagnose what people need. Don’t assume that others even understand what it is exactly. Some people want to have a website but don’t do anything with it. See how you can help them further.
Why it’s not true: Technically many of the people that follow me on Instagram don’t really follow a graphic design agency especially one that does it all like I do.
I’m only assuming the industry is saturated because it seems difficult for me.
Why it’s not true: No you used to be GOD DAMN CONSULTANT. A CONSULTANT FOR FORTUNE 100. Get your head out of your ass and see that you have been talking to people above you for years now. Get your shit together Denny.
I have more resources than other people do. I have the expertise to back myself up. People used to hire me for a reason. Now I just need to show them why they should hire my firm.
Why it’s not true: You can teach them about Photoshop. about web design, about flyer design.
I can teach them lessons I have learned though life to get me where I am now.
I can re-purpose content and make it easy for them to digest. Just because I have seen something or know something doesn’t mean everyone has too. EVEN THOUGH INFORMATION IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE, NOT EVERY TAKES ADVANTAGE OF IT. BE THEIR ENCYCLOPEDIA.
Why it’s not true: It’s because you haven’t yet understood how to deal with clients and the workload. You have too much you want to do.
You just feel stressed because you aren’t making a lot of money so it is spilling into other parts of your life.
